SPANISH 2 CLASSES USE THE BLUE MATERIALS AND BOOKS

(Spanish 3 classes use the green ones.)

Tell my students that I know that they came today expecting to be giving their presentations, but I was called on Thursday afternoon (after it was too late to tell them) and I had to have an appointment scheduled for today, so I can’t be here.  The presentations will be tomorrow (Tuesday) instead.

Today is Monday, so we are on an early release schedule.  The schedule is posted on the whiteboard in the front of the classroom.  Classes are only about 40 minutes long.

I.  Opening Activities:  Checking Homework and Review of Vocabulary  (15 minutes)

1.     have students get out their homework:  Practice Workbook 6-2 (page 56 in Practice Workbook.  Give students a completion grade on the seating chart for having the activity completed before going over the answers with the class.

2.     Go over the answers with the class using the transparency that I have placed inside the Practice Workbook for you.

3.     Have students get out the flashcards that they made of the new words and phrases on their vocabulary list for chapter 6.  Have the students spend 10 minutes quizzing each other using their flashcards.  They should give their partner the word in English and their partner should say the word in Spanish.

II.  WAVA Writing Activities  (15 minutes):

1.     Have students get out their WAVA’s (Writing, Audio and vides Activities Books)

2.     Students should complete the Writing Activities on page 35 of their WAVAS.

3.     After they have completed the activities, go over the answers with them using the Teachers’ Editions of the WAVA that I have left for you.

III.  TPR Story Dictation Activity  (10 minutes):

1.     We have been working on a TPR story entitled El Cumpleaños de la Bisabuela.

2.     Today the students will be listening to an alternate version of the story that is about a great-grandfather, instead of a great-grandmother.  (Tell them this or they will probably wonder!)

3.     They should listen to the story, as it is read, and fill in the blanks on the handout of the story as they listen.

4.     After they have finished, use the transparency to go over the correct words that go in the blanks with the students.

TAREA:  Tell the students that the quiz that they were going to have today will be tomorrow.  They should study the new words and phrases of vocabulary for the quiz as homework.  Also, please remind the students that the first presentation groups will present their presentations on Tuesday.
