 Class Rules Translated to English
1. Be respectful of everyone and everything.
(respetar)
2. Have a positive attitude. (una mentalidad, y una actitud positiva)
3.
Be responsible for learning Spanish and use it as much as possible. (El español a lo

     máximo)

The ABC’s to SUCCESS in Spanish
A    Arrive on time!  You should be in your seat, ready to begin work when class begins.

B   Bring to class:
1. Your textbook            4. Your Spanish homework
2. A notebook                5.  Your Practice Workbook and WAVA
3. A pencil or pen          6.  A positive attitude and a smile

C     Complete assignments before coming to class.  The homework is considered late if it is not finished when class begins.  If you are studying at home and do not understand an assignment, call a classmate, or e-mail me at  amron@psdschools.org

Ch     Cheating:  Zero tolerance for cheating.  Keep eyes on own paper.  If you look at someone’s paper during a test or quiz – both you and THEY will receive a zero on the assignment. Keep your tests and quizzes covered at all times.

D      Don’t!!  Don’t talk when the teacher is talking or when a classmate is talking.  Raise hand to speak and wait to be called upon.  Don’t use English unless it is absolutely necessary!

E      Extra help can be arranged before or after school.  Also, you can find another Spanish student to help you.  There are many resources to help you and to provide you with practice on the links on my web page:  http://staffweb.psdschools.org/amron/index.html

F     Find you what you missed when you are gone.  All class lesson plans and work are posted on the calendars on my web page:  http://staffweb.psdschools.org/amron/index.html

Find handouts from members of your team or on the bookcase by the classroom door.  You have two days to turn in your missing work when you are absent.  No late work is accepted except for excused absences.

G     Get a good Grade
        90-100%  A
        80-89%    B
        70-79%    C
        60-69%    D
        0-59%      F
Grades are based on homework, class work, classroom participation, tests and quizzes.  We will have a quiz almost every week.  Extra credit activities are available.  No more than 5% of total points possible for the class.  Points may also be subtracted for negative behaviors.

H      Homework:  There is homework pretty much every day.  STUDY WHAT WE PRACTICED IN CLASS.  Completed assignments are due at the beginning of the period.  Dates for assignments and tests are on my webpage.  Print out the page and all of the links from any days that you are absent.  Pick up handouts from team members.  Do not discuss any make-up work with instructor during class time – make an appointment for before school, after school or at lunch.  YOU SHOULD NOT ONLY KNOW WHAT GOES IN THE BLANK ON HOMEWORK – BUT ALSO THE MEANING OF EVERYTHING ELSE AROUND IT IN THE SENTENCE!!!

I    Immerse yourself in Spanish during class and at home as much as possible.  Greet Doña Norma and your classmates in Spanish, check out books and videos, watch the Spanish channel, read Spanish posters and bulletin boards.

J     Just have fun!  Learning a foreign language is a lot of fun, but it doesn’t just happen.  It takes a lot of practice.

K     Kindness is essential.  Please be kind towards each other, Doña Norma, any substitute teachers and visitors we may have in the classroom.  Consequences will be given to anyone who is being disrespectful or rude.

L     Listen.  Listening and speaking go hand in hand.

Ll    Llamar  - share phone numbers among the members of your team.  Call a team member is you have questions about homework, if you do not understand the website information on what we did in class when you were absent or whenever you have a group project.

M     Mimick.  Even though you may not be sure what you are mimicking, it will help you learn the language.  This is how you learned your first language.

N  Ñ   No, No, No, No.
No food or drink in the room without permission of instructor.  No leaving trash on the floor.  No writing on desks, chairs, or any other place in classroom other than designated.  No leaving the classroom without permission and without signing out on the board.  No disrespectful behavior toward instructor or other students.

O     Opportunities.  Take advantage of any opportunities to learn more about the language and cultures.  (ie. Spanish camps, summer abroad programs, exchanges programs, be a friend to an exchange student, or maybe even host an exchange student, even watch the Spanish     chanels on TV or DVD’s set to Spanish with English subtitles)

P     Practice.  Practice makes perfect.  You need to practice it to be able to remember it.

Q     Questions.  Please feel free to ask questions.  There are no stupid questions, and more often then not, someone else may be thinking of the same question.

R     Repeat, repeat, repeat!

Rr    Rrrrroll the R’s.  This may take some practice, just try it!

S     Smile!  It will make you and everyone around you feel much better.

T     Teamwork and tardies.
I am here to teach, you and your classmates are here to learn.  Please be on time and ready to learn together.

U     U can do it!   It just takes time and practice.

V      Viajes – Trips.  If you take trips to Spanish Speaking countries – TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES, WRITE DOWN YOUR EXPERIENCES AND BE READY TO SHARE WITH THE CLASS!!!!
