Spanish Artists: An Enrichment Project

Spanish Level III

Grades 10-11

·        Students will search various museum sites for works of art.

·        Students will learn about thumbnail pictures and how to enlarge them.

·        Students will capture pictures from Internet and put them into their Power Point presentations or freestanding visual displays.

·        Students will place their PowerPoint presentations into a class drop folder in order to share the presentation with the class using the classroom projector…..OR

·        Students will create freestanding visual displays to be displayed in the Media Center of the school.

·        Students will present their work to the class.

·        Computer with Internet Access and PowerPoint

·        Classroom Monitor on which to show the presentation.

·        Various websites

The following procedures are student instructions:

 

  1. Create a PowerPoint presentation or a freestanding visual display to share with the class.
  2. Draw one of the following six Spanish artists and answer the following questions in Spanish regarding that artist.

§         ¿ Cuándo nació el pintor?  (When was the painter born?)

§         ¿ Dónde nació el pintor?   (Where was he born?)

§         ¿ Cuáles son algunos de los detalles importantes sobre la vida del artista?

§         ¿ A cuál museo irías para ver la mayoría de sus obras? ( To which museum would you go to to see the majority of his works?

§         ¿ Escoge 4 o 5  de tus obras favoritas del artista y explica las razones por las cuáles las escogiste? (Choose 4 or 5 favorite works of the artist and explain why you chose them?

§         ¿ Qué estilo utilizó el artista? ¿ Fue realista, cubista ? ¿ Pintó paisajes, retratos?

§          (What style did the artist use?  Was he a cubist or realist? Did he paint portraits or landscapes?)
