Introduction

You and a friend are going to visit a family friend in a Latin American Country. Before you pack your bags, you need to learn as much as you can about the country in order to prepare for your trip and impress your friend's family.

The Task

To prepare for your adventure, use the five themes of geography to research your friend's country. You will find these five themes fully detailed in the worksheet to be downloaded below.  The five themes are:

    Location

    Place

    Relationships within Places

    Movement

    Regions

Then use your information to create a multimedia (PowerPoint) presentation.

The Process

To accomplish the task, you will follow the procedures below.

  1. You will be assigned a country to research.
  2. Once you have your country, download and print out the worksheet, and checklist from the resources section below.
  3. Research your country to find the answers to the questions on the worksheet.
  4. As you are completing the questions for each theme, please write down the bibliographic information for the resources you used. For bibliographic formats, you may follow the link below to the bibliographic information site.
  5. As you are answering the questions, be on the lookout for graphics to save for your multimedia presentation.
  6. After you have collected all of your information, use the graphic organizer to record your information.
  7. After organizing the information, you will create a multimedia presentation (PowerPoint), which you will share with the class. Your presentation will include the information you found on the five themes and any graphics you saved.
  8. Submit your multimedia presentation for evaluation by your teacher.
