What to do Before College?

What does it take to get into college? I asked8^th and 9^th graders what they thought it takes to get into college. Most thought that you need good grades but there is much more you need before you are accepted at a college like CU or CSU.

Although College is 4-3 years away it is necessary that 8^th and 9^th graders start preparing as soon as possible. Getting good grades is essential to get into college but if you had good grades and nothing else you wouldn’t be the first selected. I also asked some CU student what they wished they had done before they would to collage.

Extracurricular activities are very important for getting into college. Even if you aren’t athletic you can play an instrument join one of the many building clubs that you can join at Preston, or even play a game like chess for a club. To add on that it is good be a leader in these activities is a captain of a sports team.

Volunteering shows that you are a leader and it shows you are a good citizen. You don’t even have to do something for a year or something. I doesn’t take much to show that you can get out and volunteer. Good opportunities are the human society, volunteering at the hospital, or habitat for humanity.
