Classes
Acting I: Intro to Acting Course # 5227 This one semester class emphasizes improv, movement, beginning scene work & character study, and audition techniques. Students learn procedures for confidence on stage, relaxation, and imagination. This course also explores the history of drama and its technical components. No pre-requisite.
Acting II: Advanced Acting Course # 5240 This one semester course builds on a student’s previous theater experience. The class emphasizes in-depth character analysis, scene analysis, advanced scene work, advanced acting techniques, and theater theory. This course also introduces the student to directing, producing, and stage management. Pre-requisite Acting I.
Technical Theater Course # 5239 This multi-stage one semester workshop is designed to give students the opportunity to be certified for the operation of specific equipment in McNeal Auditorium (demonstration of proficiency is required for certification). Additionally, students will learn the foundations of all technical theater including: concept designs, budgeting, scheduling, and house management. No pre-requisite.
Theater Workshop Course # 5241 This recurring course is designed for any students who want to continue their acting experience. It emphasizes: acting theory, monologue preparation, scene study, & advanced improv .
Theater Practicum Course # 5231 Includes many advanced aspects of the theater: acting, directing, set construction and design, lighting, sound, and play writing all under the umbrella of a ticketed performance. This places emphasis on “the student as worker.” May be taken all six semesters – meets 9th period. Audition or interview required for each specific show. |
