	§ Clearly examines other authors’ opinions (from a variety of sources we have read this semester) about one of more of Postman’s main points. Probably at least four.
	§ Support can be through illustration or direct points made.
	§ Support can also be through YOUR outside reading and understanding of different pieces in different genres. This can include other texts although the predominant sources will be from ReReading America
	§ Outside sources may be used as long as copies are INCLUDED with your final essay
	§ Key quotes from each author support your comparison and are skillfully BLENDED
	§ Commentary explains why this author supports or refutes Postman’s arguments
	PART 2: CONNECTIONS TO YOURSELF	40%
	§ Clear focus of AGREEMENT/DISAGREEMENT presented
	§ SUPPORT for your agreement or disagreement provided not only through discussion/commentary but also through clear, specific examples.
	§ Outside sources may be used as long as copies are INCLUDED with your final essay
	§ Key quotes from each author support your comparison and are skillfully BLENDED
	STYLE	10%
	§ Well organized with a clear hook, thesis, introduction and conclusion
	§ All authors and titles properly attributed with author tags OR in-text citations
	§ Smooth blending of quotes
	§ Strong use of transitions
	§ Attention paid to syntax, word choices, repetition, empty sentences, labeling, signposting, etc.
	§ Few grammatical or punctuation errors
	§ NON-NEGOTIABLES are adhered to
	An “A” paper will probably use 6-8 sources between Parts 1 and 2
	ALL ELEMENTS TYPED (Do I need to say this???) with MLA format
	All notes for Parts 1 and 2 turned in with final
	Works Cited Page for OUTSIDE of class sources (other than Rereading America and class handouts).
	Submit final to SAFEASSIGNMENT or lose 20%
