Summer Moments
Summer is a season that will stand out in our minds, filled with a lot of firsts
in our lives. The first summer we were allowed to ride to the store on our bike,
the first time swimming without water wings, the first time we went away to camp.
We own memories of time spent in leisure, forced indentured servitude, and all
the spots in between. Some of us look back and try to remember bits of the first
few glorious days away from school and how free we felt. We were allowed to stay
up late, sleep in, stay over at friend's houses on a week-night. Our summers were
filled with a myriad of possibilities, and when things get difficult, no matter
our age, we look back on what we had, and we wish for those moments again and
again.
If you have amazing moments of summer fun, whether in the form of poetry or prose,
please submit your most polished draft to the elementary editor. Use as much descriptive
and figurative language as you can to make your work stand out-we want you to
show us these times filled with pleasure, not just tell us about it. If you have
amazing moments of summer fun, whether in the form of poetry or prose, please
submit your most polished draft to the elementary
editor.
