"Entering a New World: Transitioning from Elementary School to Middle School"

Leaving elementary school is hard for almost all students. Middle school asks us to balance the hustle and bustle of changing classes, loads of homework, new students in each class, and teachers' expectations while in their class. Students go through emotional, physical, and developmental stages while trying to keep old friends, make new friends, attempt new sports, explore algebra, analyze Shakespeare, and go to bed sometime before midnight. Share some of your experiences with us about the transformation from elementary school into middle school. Write a poem, a memoir, a short blurb, or even an letter of advice to other students about what to do and what not to do.

Submissions should follow regular middle school submission guidelines.

Submit work to middle school editor:

Deadline: November 1, 2003.
