LAB WRITE UP

Please make sure the Rubric handed out in class is followed carefully:

The format for the Lab Write-up is as follows:

I. Research

This should be approximately 3-4 paragraphs (5-6 sentences per paragraph); researching the topic fully.   In the case of the radish seed write-up you were simulating acid rain.  Look up all pertinent information concerning acid rain, acids and bases, pH, radishes, how do radishes grow, what environment is best suited for optimal growth.

Below the 3-4 paragraphs include definitions pertinent to the lab.   Define all terms from radish to seed to base and acid and there are others.  You want to define terms so that anyone reading your lab write up will be able to understand all aspects of the lab.

II. Question

We asked a few questions in class.  These questions must be backed with research at least 2-3 sentences.

III. Hypothesis: state your hypothesis and then with at least 3-4 sentences back your hypothesis.

IV. Prediction: Just state your prediction and include the independent and dependent variable in your prediction.

V. Experiment

Materials: list all materials: bullet materials

Procedure must be in chronological order and DETAILED… DIAGRAMS

                          1.

                          2.

                           Etc.

Make sure you include all observations and diagrams.  Procedure should be written with great detail, like a recipe so anyone could reproduce your experiment.

VI. Variables: define all variables and identify all variables and their purpose

VII. Quantitative data

Graph & table & calculations must be shown

                          Follow graphing rules (permanent handouts)

VIII. Conclusion:  At least 2-3 paragraphs

                                       follow rubric

Restate hypothesis and reject or accept hypothesis then analyze data and research to defend your conclusion.  You must site your data and research within your defense of the conclusion.

IX. At least 2-3 paragraphs

Errors must have @ least 4 errors and explain how they affect your experiment (follow rubric)

X. At least 2-3 paragraphs
