Materials: Expectations: • Attendance: Be present in class every day. I can’t stress how important it is to be in class; actively participate and give great effort in class activities. Please pre-arrange planned absences, so I can provide work for you in advance. If you have to be absent from class due to sickness or another school activity, it is your responsibility to complete any and all missed assignments and to see me about the missed class activities. • Tardiness: Be on time to class every day. Be in your seat before the bell rings. If you do come to class late, quickly and quietly take your seat. • Assignments: Lecture notes, viewing guides, essays, research assignments, class presentations, your own questions, answers and written responses, and participation in discussions and group assignments are required of the student. I DO NOT ACCEPT LATE WORK. • Plagiarism: Plagiarism cannot be tolerated; therefore, I will request that some assignments be submitted to Safe Assignment on Blackboard. Cases of plagiarism will be dealt with according to the process outlined in the PSD Student Code of Conduct. • Tests and Quizzes: Expect unit exams approximately every five or six weeks. I may also give quizzes, so it is wise to review your class notes nightly. • Behavior: Students are expected to maintain an environment conducive to learning. Respect yourself and conduct yourself using common sense. Disrespect will not be tolerated in our classroom. Feel free to express your ideas and opinions; please do so maturely and thoughtfully. Respect the rights of others. All rules and regulations established by FCHS are appropriate for this class and will be enforced. Respect the school environment. Refrain from eating and drinking (except water) in class. Turn off cell phones, iPods, and any other electronic devices. Electronic devices used during class will be dealt with as a discipline issue. Stay focused the entire period, and do not “pack up” early. I dismiss class; the bell does not dismiss class. |
