The Process

For this WebQuest, you will be asked to adopt one of the following roles and play that part. In order to complete your role, you must use the Internet and the computer technology available in the building or at home to do the following:

1.     Research the information and data that are most appropriate to your role. A number of recommended web sites will be provided, however if you find other sites that you wish to use, feel free.

2.     Document the sites you select, just as you would document a reference book or periodical used in making a report. Poudre School District has a format for referencing all types of media including electronic and web-based sources. Please follow this format for your bibliography. Clicking the highlighted "Document" link will take you to the district web page with the format.

3.     Compile the pertinent data and put it into a form that is easy to understand. Use Excel or other graphing software to put your data into graph or table form for display to an audience.

4.     Produce a one-page brochure, flyer or newspaper/magazine page that summarizes your position.

5.     Collaborate with other students who chose the same role as you did and produce a 5-10 minute presentation of your findings/position using Microsoft Power Point.

6.     Write 5 multiple choice test questions based upon your presentation and printed material. Supply the correct answers along with the questions.

The Roles

1.     Chemist.

2.     Journalist.

3.     Environmental Activist.

4.     Environmental Protection Agency regulator.

5.     Industry Representative (oil company, concrete manufacturing, transportation, steel/auto maker).

6.     Public Utility/Energy Company manager.
