Week of 5/21 This week we are completing the review unit for second grade. We are continuing to explore multiplication and division, and are adding and subtracting 4-digit numbers. This includes lessons 12.2, 12.3, 12.4 and 12.5.
Week of 5/7 This week we continue our study of operations. We are learning more about multiplication and division, factors and products, and fact families for multiplication and division. This includes lessons 11.6, 11.7, 11.8 and 11.9.
Week of 4/30 This week we are starting Unit 11, which is a study of operations. We are adding and subtracting money amounts with dollars and cents, and revisiting multiplication and division. This includes lessons 11.2, 11.3, 11.4 and 11.5.
Week of 4/23 This week we will complete Unit 10 and our study of place value. Our next unit is a review of addition and subtraction, and an introduction to multiplication and division equations. This includes lessons 10.11, 10.12, and 11.1.
Week of 4/16 As we study place value this week, we will look at numbers in the ten-thousands. We will also review place value for ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands. This includes lessons 10.7, 10.8, 10.9 and 10.10.
Week of 4/9 We are continuing our study of decimals and place value using money. This week we will find differences in costs, estimate and find total costs of two or more items, and make change. This includes lessons 10.3, 10.4, and 10.5.
Week of 4/2 This week we begin Unit 10 of Everyday Math, which is a study of decimals and place value. We will look how decimals are used with money amounts. This includes lessons 10.1, 10.2, and 10.3.
Week of 3/26 We are finishing our unit on Measurement this week. We will practice perimeter and learn about area, capacity, and weight. This includes lessons 9.8, 9.9, 9.10, and 9.11.
Week of 3/19 This week we continue our study of measurement. We will learn about perimeter, linear measures, measures of weight, and measures of capacity or volume. This includes lessons 9.4, 9.5, 9.6, and 9.7.
Week of 3/5 This week we are finishing our study of fractions and starting Unit 9, which is a study of measurement. This includes lessons 8.8, 9.1, and 9.2.
Weeks of 2/19 and 2/26 We will continue Unit 8, which is a study of fractions. We will inquire into fractions of a whole, fractions of a group of items, and equivalent fractions. This includes lessons 8.2, 8.3, 8.4, 8.5, 8.6, and 8.7.
Week of 2/12 We are finishing Unit 7 this week and completing unit assessments. We will also start Unit 8, which is a study of fractions. This includes lessons 7.9, 7.10, 8.1 and 8.2.
Week of 2/5 This week we will measure objects, our jump lengths, our arm spans, and the like. We will use these measurements to record and work with data, including finding a median. This includes lessons 7.5, 7.6, 7.7 and 7.8.
Week of 1/29 We will look at counting patterns and continue working with compliments of 10 (2 + 8, 6 + 4, 30 + 70, 50 + 50, etc). This includes lessons 7.2, 7.3, and 7.4.
Week of 1/22 We are finishing Unit 6 where we added with three addends and started working with pictures to represent multiplication and division. We will begin Unit 7, looking at patterns and rules. This includes lessons 6.11, 6.12, 7.1, and 7.2.
Week of 1/15 We will continue to look at strategies for adding and subtracting two-digit numbers with regrouping. This week we are also introducing multiplication and division.This includes lessons 6.8, 6.9, 6.10, and 6.11.
Week of 12/11 This week we will finish our study of 2-D and 3-D shapes. We will explore symmetry and begin more advanced addition and subtraction, including how to add three two-digit numbers. This includes lessons 5.9, 5.10, 6.1, and 6.2.
Week of 12/4 We continue our study of geometery, looking at polygons, line segments, and pyramids this week. We will learn about parallel lines, angles, vertecies, endpoints, and more. This includes lessons 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, and 5.8.
Week of 11/27 We will finish Unit 4 this week and begin Unit 5, which is a study of two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes. This includes lessons 4.10, 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3.
Week of 11/13 This week we will continue to discuss addition strategies, making change, and measurement. This includes lessons 4.7, 4.8, 4.9, and 4.10.
Week of 11/6 We are working on adding and subtracting two-digit numbers this week. We will use temperature changes and shopping to have real-world examples of working with two-digit numbers. This includes lessons 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, and 4.6.
Week of 10/30 This week we will finish and assess our study of place value, time, and money. We will also start our next unit focusing on addition and subtraction of two-digit numbers. We will complete lessons 3.9, 4.1, and 4.2.
Week of 10/23 We continue our study of place value, time, and money. This week we are learning about Frames-and-Arrows with two rules and making change. We will complete lessons 3.6, 3.7, 3.8, and 3.9.
Week of 10/9 We are reviewing Unit 2 and taking the unit test this week. Then we will begin Unit 3 which is a study of place value, time, and money. We will complete lessons 2.13, 2.14, 3.1, and 3.2.
Week of 10/2 This week we are looking at several different methods used in our curriculum to gain number sense and computation knowledge. Some of these methods include Name-Collections, Frames-and-Arrows, and "What's My Rule" function machines. This includes lessons 2.9, 2.10, 2.11, and 2.12.
Week of 9/25 We are continuing to work on knowing addition facts without having to use fingers or number lines. This week we are working on doubles +1 or +2 facts and fact families. We are also exploring the relationship between addition and subtraction. This includes lessons 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, and 2.8.
Week of 9/18 This week we begin Unit 2, practicing addition and subtraction facts. We will discuss number stories this week and practice +0 and +1 facts, doubles facts, and turn-around facts. This includes lessons 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4.
Week of 9/11 We will practice counting patterns and relations (<, >, =) and explore place value and reading thermometers. This includes lessons 1.11, 1.12, 1.13, and 1.14.
Week of 9/5 We will review number grids, write numbers up to 1,000, and practice finding equivalent names for numbers this week. This includes lessons 1.7, 1.8, 1.9, and 1.10.
Week of 8/28 This week we will continue reviewing what was learned in first grade including: telling time, tally marks, and using a number grid. This includes lessons 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6.
Week of 8/23 We will start our year by discussing addition and subtraction learned in first grade, looking at number sequences in the thousands, calculating values of coins. This includes lessons 1.1 and 1.2.
