HL Organic and Biochemistry

Mr. Lenczycki

HL Organic and Biochemistry is an advanced science laboratory course introducing the structure and reactivity of carbon compounds.  Topics include the structure and reactions of organic functional groups, nomenclature, bonding, stereochemistry, spectroscopy, especially nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), synthesis, mechanisms, and applications.  The course will also involve proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, and energy transformations, which are subjects basic to molecular biology.  The spring semester will be devoted to review for the HL Chemistry exam.

ADDITIONAL HELP:

5th, 7th, and 8th hours are my free periods.  Let me know beforehand if you wish to see me during these times, or before or after school, to ensure I am available.  Please do not be afraid to seek help or ask questions in or out of class.  The question you may pose may be on the mind of a dozen others, and often helps to bring all to a better understanding.
