Calculator Assignment

Resources

You may use any of the following items as a basis for your assignment:

  1. Handout:  Using Calculator
  2. Handout:  Regression Graphs
  3. TI-84 Home Page (this includes sample activities.  At this time we do not have screen capturing software on the computers in E102, so you cannot capture screen samples as are done in the TI activities).

Purpose

This assignment is to help you better use your TI calculator and share that gained knowledge with the rest of your class.

Assignment

This assignment is to have you create a set of instructions for the TI calculator to explain how to do a particular procedure.  The procedure may cover any topic in our Integrated 3 textbook, whether we have covered it or not.  You may work in groups of two or by yourself, whichever you prefer.  The final product will look similar to my two handouts referenced in the Resources section above.  The product will have the same font and format as these two examples, with the same line spacing.  The final product will be from one to two pages long.  The final product will be dropped into my account, in my drop folder, at Fossil Ridge High School.

Grading Criteria

The project will be worth 60 points.  It is in lieu of the test for Unit 6 in the Integrated 3 textbook.   The criteria will be:

  1. Name of members of the group, date (Friday, 11 March 2005), period                         –   5 points
  2. Title of procedure, introduction, and purpose                                                                 –   5 points
  3. Set up of calculator                                                                                                       –   5 points
  4. Initialization (like setting up lists)                                                                                    – 10 points
  5. Originality (how is this different than the examples)                                                         – 15 points
  6. Completion instructions and description of final results/questions                                    – 20 points
  7. Bonus: One paragraph description of when you use these calculations in “real life”          –   5 points

Total:                                                                                                                                  – 65 points/60 points
