January
For birthday parties at school, Sissy's teacher made everyone wear this silly hat.

"Hurry up and take the picture, Daddy!"
February
After reading a book on Sacagawea, Sissy wrote a report about her to present to her class. She wrote the ten (10) pages all by herself. Mommy made her an outfit for her presentation.

"Sacagawea had the courage to do what was right and she always did her best."

It's hard to believe that the top of Devils Tower, which is about the size of a football field, used to be how high all the land around here was and where we are sitting is how much erosion has taken place over the years.

"Okay, who's ready to do some hiking!"

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park

The day before we visited, lightning started three different fires in the canyon causing a thick haze. Fortunately, the park was open for our visit. A sign at the Visitor Center, where I took this picture, said that even though the South Rim overlook, where Mom and the kids are waving, was only a half-a-mile from an overlook directly across on the North Rim, it was an 88 mile drive to actually get to the other overlook!
