Pearl Lake Campground site #24
Colorado State Park, near Clark, CO

"It finally stopped snowing, sleeting, hailing, and raining! What a way to be greeted for a week of camping!"
"Hi Daddy, the sun is shinning and the breeze is drying everything out! It's going to be PERFECT the rest of the week!"

"Yup!"
"Okay, Dad, you're the expert tenter!"
"This is going up a lot different than my pup tent I had when I was your age, Bubby. I had solid wood poles and heavy canvas!"
"So you really slept outside all by yourself, while your sisters and Grandma and Grandpa slept in the trailer?"

"Yup!"
"Almost done!"
"Now to just inflate the queen air mattress!"

"That's one luxury I didn't have, Bubby. I just slept in my sleeping bag on the floor of my tent."

"Sorry, Tux, I'm afraid you won't like sleeping in the tent."

"Can I try it, pretty please...pretty please???"
"The boat launch sure makes it easy to get the canoe to the water!"

"Yup!"
"Bye, Mom. We'll meet you back at the campsite!"
"What a beautiful day to be out on the lake!"
"A campfire sure is nice on a chilly evening!"
"The east side of the lake begins to glow as the sun sets!"
"It's like night and day, Dad!"
The "Wiggins Diggins", Hahns Peak Village, CO

Home to Al and Rilla Wiggins for many years (proprietors of the "Things-n-Stuff" gift shop), it was "laid up" in 1885 as the county treasurer's cabin. It was partially burned in the big fire of 1910 that destroyed the Larson Hotel next door and rebuilt using many of the fire charred logs.
Sage Flats, Steamboat Lake, CO

A boat launch, fishing area, and trailhead located at the south edge of Steamboat Lake near the dam.

"What a beautiful view of Sand Mountain, Daddy!"
Howelsen Hill, Steamboat Springs, CO

The tradition of competitive skiing began in Steamboat in 1913 with the arrival of Norwegian Carl Howelsen. Known as the "Flying Norseman" because of his famous ski jumping act with the Ringling Brothers Circus, he founded the Winter Sports Club, began the tradition of Winter Carnival, and opened Howelsen Hill ski area in 1914.

"I don't understand, Dad, it looks like if you went off the jump, you'd land on the buildings at the base of the hill. Ouch!"
Fellow Fun Finder trailer owners, Dan and Rita from Louisville, Kentucky, take the canoe out for a spin at Pearl.

"We can't believe the lake is so calm in the afternoon!"
"Gee, Dad, usually you and Mommy do the romantic sunset cruises!"

"It's a Father/Daughter moment!"

"Check out the orange clouds reflecting in the water!"
"Don't stay out too late!"

"We won't!"
"Put down the camera and stir the scrambled eggs, Dad, we're HUNGRY!!!"
"What a neat surprise, Daddy! I've ALWAYS wanted to ride a horse!"
"I'm saddled up and ready to ride with you, Sissy!"

"You guys be careful!"
"We will, Mommy! We're in good hands with Daddy's horse, Danny, and my horse, Rooster, and..."
"...Karen, our trail guide!"
"First, it's across the meadow and down the ravine to follow the stream that meets up with the Steamboat Lake dam, and then......."

"Oh, Daddy, this is the BEST thing I've EVER done!"
"Hey, Dad, check out my remote control boat!"

"Cool!"
"C'mon, Daddy, Tuxie wants to go out in the canoe!"
"Okay, Tuxie, here's your turn! Bubby and Daddy will take you out!"
"Oh, what a beautiful day to be out on the water!"
"Oh, I AM a happy dog!"
"Time for some Jiffy Pop, Honey!"

"Yes, Dear!"
"Another morning, another canoe ride for Tuxie, this time just with Daddy!"

"When you get back, Tuxie, we'll play with your water toy!"

"Oh, Boy!"
"Go get it, Tuxie!"
"Good Boy!"
"Oh, Tuxie, do you have to shake and spray us EVERY TIME???!!!"
"C'mon! Throw it again!"
"It's a little rocky for a swimming beach, Daddy, but we're not complaining...it'll do!"

"Can you see the Pearl Lake dam way off behind us?"
"R & R stands for reading..."
"...and refreshment!"
"All this reading and refreshment WEARS ME OUT!"
"Sorry, Tuxie, but our week of camping has come to end."

"Please, say it isn't so........"
Overlook, near Cameron Pass, CO

"Happy Father's Day, Daddy! We love you!"
"Now there's everything a dad ever needs on Father's Day!"
Cameron Pass, near Gould, CO

"It's hard to believe, Daddy, that when we came over Cameron Pass a week ago on our way to Pearl Lake that we hit a blizzard and you had to use 4WD! All we could see was WHITE!!! Now I'm standing here in the bright sun and 70 degrees! My ankles are freezing in the snow!"
Windsor Summer Concert Band.

"Wow, they sound great after only 14 mornings of practicing together!"

"Thank you."
