Jackson Lake Campground sites #22 and #26
Colorado State Park, near Orchard, CO

"It sure is great to be camping again with Grandma & Grandpa and hear about their summer adventure working in Alaska!"
"It's a perfect four day weekend to get away with school out! Too bad Mommy has to work and Big Bubby has two days of marching band events. But, they'll get to join us on Saturday morning."

"Hey, the Visitor's Center has some interesting displays, especially the stuffed bird that died trying to swallow a fish WHOLE!"
"Whoa, Daddy, the leaves are just beautiful!"
"Yes, Sissy, it reminds me of fall in the Ozarks!"

"At least Tuxie is happy we're taking the road back to our campsite instead of the nature trail. His poor paws were actually starting to bleed from all the goat-heads we were having to walk over!"
"Since Jackson Lake is an irrigation reservoir for the surrounding farms, the water level is down in the fall. Because it gets so shallow, they built the boat launch way out so it's really an island!"
"Hey, Daddy, there's absolutely NO ONE out on the water!"

"Just like there's hardly anyone else but us in the only open camping loop!"

"Well, nothing like having the place ALL to yourself!"
"Look, we can see Grandma & Grandpa's shiny Airstream trailer from here!"
"And our Shadow!"
"With 260 campsites and a four lane boat launch, I bet this place is busy, Busy, BUSY during the summer!"
"C'mon, Tux, time to head back to camp!"
"An overnight thunderstorm and wind storm blew down our picnic table canopy, but Bubby's tent made it okay...and so did Bubby!"
"Look at THE LAKE by Shadow!"
"The sun is coming out, so it'll dry everything out, just as Grandpa is finishing up drying after Grandma and Daddy washed after making breakfast."
"Time for some SKIP BO!"
"We LOVE Skip Bo!"
"Time for a walk!"
"I heard walk, I did, I did, I heard WALK, let's go, LET'S GO!"
"Pant, pant, pant, pant, pant, pant, pant...."
"Lunch time!"
"Whatcha' takin' a picture of Grandma?"
"The view is so beautiful!"
"Hi, Daddy, the sun feels soooooooo good!"
"While the chairs continue to dry out in the afternoon sun, Grandpa shows Bubby exactly where he wants the wood split."
"Right, there!"
"Good shot!"
"Daddy's chillin' out!"
"Let's take the canoe out!"
"I'm so tuckered out from carrying the canoe a quarter of a mile, JUST TO REACH THE WATER, I don't know if I have any strength left to paddle!"

"Oh, sure you do!"
"The water's so shallow, we're still scraping bottom 20 feet from shore!"

"Heave!"

"Ho!"
"FINALLY!!!"
"So lonnnnnnnng........."
"Oh, look, a bunny in camp!"
"After an hour and a half, Grandpa and Daddy are FINALLY back! Grandpa's in the front now, so they must have switched places on the other end of the lake."

"It's about time you two got back! It's supper time!"

"Meet us at the boat launch! There's no way we can make it to shore without running aground!"
"Now there's a creative way to get the canoe back to camp!"
"Mercy, that was a wonderful time out on the serene lake!"
"It is just absolutely GORGEOUS!!!"
"Look, Daddy, there's the bunny next to Shadow!"
"What a pretty sunset, Daddy!"

"Yup!"
"Get the fire going, Bubby!"

"Okay, Dad!"
"NIGHT SHOT!"
"Oh my, what a sunrise bursting through the early morning fog on the lake! And there's our first fisherman out in a boat!"
"After breakfast while Daddy goes to get Mommy and Big Bubby, time for another game of Skip Bo. Grandma is a FAST shuffler!"
"Let's take another hike..."
"...and also watch the Pelicans fly in formation across the lake!"
"Daddy's back with Mommy and Big Bubby!"
"Time to get caught up on news..."
"...while some draw and color..."
"...and some play a video game while listening to band music..."
"...and some split more wood..."
"...and some do additional drying out..."
"...while some just chill out!"
"What will Grandpa decide to do with his roll?"

"Don't Farkel, Grandpa!"
"The afternoon saw the wind pick up and by supper time, it was blowing so hard and so cold off the lake, the only way to get any relief was to pull the Suburban up next to the picnic table!"
"The fire sure feels good, doesn't it?"
"Yes, Honey!"
"We feel like Eskimos!"

"You LOOK like Eskimos!"
"Sunday morning sunrise..."
"...what a fast four day weekend! Goodbye Grandma & Grandpa and goodbye Jackson Lake!"
